Bruce Twickler, author of Saving New York: The Colonial FDNY & the American Revolution, also wrote and directed the acclaimed PBS documentaries Damrell's Fire, now available on Amazon Prime and Broadside, also available on Prime, adapting some of the research and dramatic elements from each film for the book.

Before filmmaking, he published animation and video effects software - VideoWorks (1985) and VideoCraft (1995) and founded an Internet company, Andover.net (IPO 1999). Before publishing, he worked in the consumer electronics industry (Pioneer Electronics) and as an electrical engineer, graduating from MIT (1967). He now lives with his wife in Boston while visiting his grown kids and very rapidly growing grandkids.
